आरत बचन कहति बैदेही। बिलपति भूरि बिसूरि, ‘दूरि गए मृग सँग परम सनेही’॥ १ ॥ कहे कटु बचन, रेख नाँघी मैं, तात छमा सो कीजै। देखि बधिक-बस राजमरालिनि, लषन लाल! छिनि लीजै॥ २ ॥ बनदेवनि सिय कहन कहति यों, छल करि नीच हरी हौं। गोमर-कर सुरधेनु, नाथ! ज्यों त्यों परहाथ परी हौं॥ ३ ॥ तुलसिदास रघुनाथ-नाम-धुनि अकनि गीध धुकि धायो। ‘पुत्रि पुत्रि! जनि डरहि, न जैहै नीचु, मीचु हौं आयो’॥ ४ ॥
Vaidehī speaks words of anguish, lamenting bitterly: “My dearest Lord has gone far away with the deer.” (1) “I spoke harsh words and crossed the line; dear Lakṣmaṇa, forgive me. See this royal swan caught by a hunter—my child, come snatch me from him!” (2) Sītā gives the forest deities this message to deliver: “A vile one has abducted me through deceit. Lord, like the divine cow fallen into a butcher’s hands, I have somehow fallen into an enemy’s power.” (3) Tulsīdāsa says that, hearing the sound of Raghunātha’s name, the vulture king rushed forward in fury: “Daughter, daughter, do not fear! This wretch will not escape; I have come as death itself.” (4)
