रघुबर दूरि जाइ मृग मार्यो। लषन पुकारि, राम हरुए कहि, मरतहु बैर सँभार्यो॥ १ ॥ सुनहु तात! कोउ तुम्हहि पुकारत प्राननाथको नाईं। कह्यो लषन, हत्यो हरिन, कोपि सिय हठि पठयो बरिआई॥ २ ॥ बंधु बिलोकि कहत तुलसी प्रभु, ‘भाई! भली न कीन्हीं। मेरे जान जानकी काहू खल छल करि हरि लीन्हीं’॥ ३ ॥
Raghu’s Lord went far away and killed the deer. It cried out for Lakṣmaṇa and softly uttered “Rāma”; even while dying it remembered its old enmity. (1) “Listen, dear Lakṣmaṇa! Someone is calling you in the voice of my Lord.” Lakṣmaṇa replied, “The deer has been killed; it is nothing.” Angered, Sītā stubbornly compelled him to go. (2) Seeing his brother approach, Tulsīdāsa’s Lord says: “Brother, you have not done well. I believe some villain has deceived us and carried Jānakī away.” (3)
