राखी भगति-भलाई भली भाँति भरत। स्वारथ-परमारथ-पथी जय जय जग करत॥ १ ॥ जो ब्रत मुनिवरनि कठिन मानस आचरत। सो ब्रत लिए चातक-ज्यों सुमत पाप हरत॥ २ ॥ सिंहासन सुभग राम-चरन-पीठ धरत। चालत सब राजकाज आयसु अनुसरत॥ ३ ॥ आपु अवध, बिपिन बंधु, सोच-जरनि जरत। तुलसी सम-बिषम, सुगम-अगम लखि न परत॥ ४ ॥
Bharata preserved devotion and goodness in perfect measure. A traveler upon the paths of both worldly and highest good, he is acclaimed throughout the world. (1) He undertook the vow that the finest sages find difficult even to practice in their minds, living like the cātaka bird; hearing of that noble resolve removes sin. (2) He placed Rāma’s beautiful foot-throne upon the royal throne, and all affairs of state proceeded in obedience to its command. (3) He himself was in Ayodhyā while his brother was in the forest, each burning in the fire of grief. Tulsī says no one could perceive equality or inequality, ease or hardship, between them. (4)
