Since returning from Citrakūṭa, Bharata has dwelt at Nandigrāma, digging into the earth, spreading kuśa grass, and sheltering beneath a hut of leaves. (1) Clad in deerskin, living on fruit, and wearing matted hair, he keeps his mind fixed upon the term. Seeing his disciplined vow of love for the Lord’s feet, sages bow their heads. (2) He worships the sandals upon the throne and bows to them again and again. Asking their command in loving devotion to the Lord, he sets all the people’s affairs in order. (3) Tulsī says: as the radiance of his body diminishes, his love grows ever greater. There has never been, there is not, and there never will be a brother like Bharata in the world. (4)
