बिनती भरत करत कर जोरे। दीनबंधु! दीनता दीनकी कबहुँ परै जनि भोरे॥ १ ॥ तुम्हसे तुम्हहि नाथ मोको, मोसे जन तुमको बहुतेरे। इहै जानि, पहिचानि प्रीति, छमिए अघ-औगुन मेरे॥ २ ॥ यों कहि सीय-राम-पाँयनि परि लखन लाइ उर लीन्हें। पुलक सरीर, नीर भरि लोचन, कहत प्रेम-पन-कीन्हें॥ ३ ॥ तुलसी बीते अवधि प्रथम दिन जो रघुबीर न ऐहौं। तौ प्रभु-चरन-सरोज-सपथ जीवत परिजनहि न पैहौं॥ ४ ॥
With hands joined, Bharata pleads: ‘Friend of the lowly, may this lowly one never forget his humility. (1) For me, a Lord like you is you alone; for you, there are many servants like me. Knowing this, yet recognizing my love, please forgive my sins and faults. (2) Speaking thus, he fell at the feet of Sītā and Rāma and clasped Lakṣmaṇa to his breast. His body thrilled and his eyes filled with tears as he made a lover’s pledge. (3) Tulsī says: if Raghubīra does not return on the first day after the term has ended, then, by the lotus feet of the Lord, you will not find your servant alive. (4)
