काहेको मानत हानि हिये हो? प्रीति-नीति-गुन-सील-धरम कहँ तुम अवलंब दिये हो॥ १ ॥ तात! जात जानिबे न ए दिन, करि प्रमान पितु-बानी। ऐहौं बेगि, धरहु धीरज उर कठिन कालगति जानी॥ २ ॥ तुलसिदास अनुजहि प्रबोधि प्रभु चरनपीठ निज दीन्हें। मनहुँ सबनके प्रान-पाहरू भरत सीस धरि लीन्हें॥ ३ ॥

Why do you regard this as a loss within your heart? You have given support to love, sound polity, virtue, character, and dharma. (1) Dear brother, these days will pass before they are noticed. Having fulfilled our father’s word, I shall return quickly; knowing the difficult course of time, hold courage in your heart. (2) Tulsīdāsa says that, reassuring his younger brother, the Lord gave him his own foot-throne. Bharata placed it upon his head as though he had received the guardian of everyone’s life. (3)
