Friend, did no one ask where the travelers are bound? Whence have they come, who are they, what are the names of the dark and fair youths, And, their purpose safely accomplished, will they return by this road? (1) Their youth is rising, its first dark tint appearing; they are exceedingly lovely. Those who behold their beauty sell themselves away without receiving a price. Together with the lovely woman, they take every heart merely by looking, And wherever they go, they bestow upon the eyes their highest reward. (2) Every fair-faced woman, pierced by love, tells at length The story of Rāma, Lakṣmaṇa, and Sītā upon the road. Tulsī says those who hear the story with an attentive heart and enter that very moment Are as greatly blessed as the women themselves. (3)
