I was not able to look upon them well enough. Friend, two enchanting travelers passed this way with a moon-faced bride. (1) Their eyes were lotuses, their age the finest youth, and matted locks formed crowns upon their heads. Ascetic cloth and quivers were at their waists, bows and arrows in their hands; dark and fair, they shone by their very nature. (2) Their faces were beautiful, their chests and arms broad; the radiance of their bodies shamed millions of Loves. Looking upon them dazzled me, and I could not tell who they were or whence they had come. (3) My heart went with them, and my eyes, overcome by sorrow, release streams of tears however much I reason with them. Tulsīdāsa says only the one who brought them here for me to see can fulfill this longing for their vision. (4)
