The pair of Rāma and Jānakī shines. The handsome groom is dark as blue lotus and raincloud; the bride's fair body has lightning's color. (1) At the wedding they shine beneath the canopy; my mind can find no comparison anywhere. It is as though beauty, adornment, and splendor have gathered in one place in Love's lovely pavilion. (2) Both are all-auspicious, every limb enchanting; her red veil and his yellow scarf are tied together. They circle the golden vessels, and beholding their beauty even Śāradā's mind grows bewildered. (3) On this side sage Vasiṣṭha and on that Śatānanda proclaim the two lineages. Here Ayodhyā's lord and there Mithilā's king fill their laps as the ocean of joy surges. (4) Janaka is delighted, the women's palace overcome with affection, and clever women gaze while breaking a straw against the evil eye. Hearing song, drums, and Vedic chant, the gods shower flowers—friend, who can describe that joy? (5) Having gained the reward of their eyes, all lovingly implore the Lord and offer blessings. Tulsī says: when even the mind sinks into that bliss, how can the tongue describe its happiness? (6)
