When they beheld Daśaratha's two princes, Janakapur's men and women gazed with joyful hearts and held back their blinking eyes. (1) They were youthful; their bodies had the colors of cloud and lightning, every limb lovely from nail to crown. The Maker took all the world's treasure of beauty and fashioned them with his own hands, giving his heart and love. (2) The king was in distress, Sītā deeply anxious, and the rulers bowed their heads in shame. Then Rāma, lion of Raghu's lineage, rose upon receiving his guru's command. (3) In mere sport the Lord broke the bow and won both victory and Jānakī. Tulsīdāsa says the sages sang Raghupati's glory throughout the three worlds. (4)
