As soon as all the kings had lost hope, Raghupati bowed to his guru's lotus feet and went near the bow. (1) His body was dark as a garland of blue lotuses; his chest, arms, and eyes were broad. A yellow cloth girded his waist, and a lovely necklace of elephant pearls adorned his graceful throat. (2) Fine earrings shone; leaves and blossoms crowned his head with a charming red cap. His moon-face housed the beauty of ten million Cupids, and a lovely tilaka graced his brow. (3) The townspeople and royal assembly reverently beheld his matchless form. Lakṣmaṇa said, ‘Śeṣa, Earth, and mountains—stand firm today! (4) Tortoise, Boar, and all elephants of the quarters, brace every limb for the Lord's work. Daśaratha's crown prince intends to string Śiva's bow in a flash.’ (5) Taking it in his palm, while the sages thrilled, Rāma lifted it in play. He bent the bow together with the kings' faces and filled every heart with joy. (6) Hari drew it along with Sītā's heart, and Janaka's heart rejoiced. He broke it together with Bhṛgupati's pride and dispelled the three worlds' delusion. (7) The bow's tremendous crash was like a cloudburst at cosmic dissolution. Śiva, Brahmā, and the guardians of the quarters started and stopped their ears. (8) Regaining their senses, they boarded their aerial cars and went beating drums. Joy surged through the city; heaven rang with cries of victory and auspicious song. (9) At the Brahmins' word, happy married women went and brought Jānakī. Seeing the prince, the princess placed the victory-garland upon his breast and stood shyly. (10) The gods and sages showered flowers and blessings, unable to contain their love. Tulsīdāsa gives himself for the beauty of Sītā and Rāma. (11)
