कौसिक कृपालहूको पुलकित तनु भौ। उमगत अनुराग, सभाके सराहे भाग, देखि दसा जनककी कहिबेको मनु भौ॥ १ ॥ प्रीतिके न पातकी, दियेहू साप पाप बड़ो, मख-मिस मेरो तब अवध-गवनु भौ। प्रानहूते प्यारे सुत मागे दिये दसरथ, सत्यसिंधु सोच सहे, सूनो सो भवनु भौ॥ २ ॥ काकसिखा सिर, कर केलि-तून-धनु-सर, बालक-बिनोद जातुधाननिसों रनु भौ। बूझत बिदेह अनुराग-आचरज-बस, ऋषिराज जाग भयो, महाराज अनु भौ॥ ३ ॥ भूमिदेव, नरदेव, सचिव परसपर कहत, हमहिं सुरतरु सिवधनु भौ। सुनत राजाको रीति उपजी प्रतीति-प्रीति, भाग तुलसीके, भले साहेबको जनु भौ॥ ४ ॥

Even merciful Kauśika's body thrilled. Love surged within him, and he praised the assembly's good fortune; seeing Janaka's state, he wished to speak. (1) ‘Sinners are unworthy of love, yet to curse them would be a great sin; therefore, under the pretext of the sacrifice, I went to Ayodhyā. I asked for sons dearer to Daśaratha than life, and he gave them; that ocean of truth endured anguish, and his palace became desolate. (2) Side-locks were upon their heads and play-quivers, bows, and arrows in their hands; their battle with the demons was mere childhood sport.’ Overcome by love and wonder, Videha asked, ‘Sage-king, was the sacrifice completed?’—‘Great king, see for yourself.’ (3) Brahmins, king, and ministers said to one another, ‘For us Śiva's bow has become a wish-granting tree.’ Hearing of the king's conduct, faith and love arose in Tulsī too: fortunate is he to have become the servant of such a good Lord.
