All four sons of King Daśaratha are noble. As Rāma and Lakṣmaṇa are, so too are Bharata and Śatrughna— oceans of virtue and beauty, suns of radiant power. (1) They slew Tāḍakā, guarded the sacrifice, and fulfilled the vow well, laying low millions of warriors with a single blow apiece. The force of one arrow sent whole races of demons flying; their bodies withered, becoming leaves upon the wind. (2) At the touch of the stone's edge, Ahalyā assumed a divine body; the philosopher's-stone virtue was seen in those lotus feet. By Rāma's grace, Guru Gautama again became a husband, and your Śatānanda again became his mother's son. (3) Speaking and hearing words nourished by love and playful humor, everyone naturally found joy. Tulsī says Kauśika praises Janaka's fortune: when Fate is favorable, even a good throw yields still better dice. (4)
