Who are these two, and from where have they come? Dark and golden as blue and yellow lotuses, they steal the mind and are lovely by nature. (1) Are they sages' sons or princes, or have Brahman and the individual soul been born into the world? Are they jewels from the ocean of beauty, or the lovely, playful eyes of the beautiful lady Splendor? (2) Are they sons of the Sun, Love and the lord of Spring, or Hari and Hara in assumed disguises? Or have you received the fine fruits of your own wish-granting tree of merit? (3) Videha became bodiless: overcome by affection, he forgot the condition of his body. His body thrilled, joy overflowed his heart, and tears covered his lovely eyes. (4) Janaka's soft, charming, honey-filled words of devotion pleased Kauśika. Tulsī says: immense joy surged in his heart, and he sang the virtues of Rāma and Lakṣmaṇa. (5)
