These are the two sons of Ayodhyā's lord. Everyone in Janaka's city climbs the buildings and gazes reverently. (1) Their youthful bodies are lovely, dark and fair, and they bear quivers, arrows, and bows. Yellow cloth is at their waists, pearls and gems at their throats; their arms are broad and their strength immense. (2) Their faces are moons, their eyes lotuses; tilaks grace their brows and their eyebrows curve. Fine earrings and lovely caps adorn them, and they walk with the gait of intoxicated elephants. (3) The king sent them for Viśvāmitra's sake; it was they who slew Tāḍakā. They guarded the sacrifice by defeating the foe, and the world knows they delivered the sage's wife upon the road. (4) Knowing them as dear guests, the men and women gave them dwellings within their eyes. Tulsīdāsa says: seeing the Lord, all the people became like Janaka—bodiless in rapture. (5)
