Come out to play, fountain of joy! Your beloved friends, a great company of children, stand at the royal gate. (1) Your clever servant-cakora birds thirst for the sight of you. From the cloud of your body rain the water of beauty and quench our eyes' thirst. (2) Hearing his brothers' humble words, he rises like a lion cub. A lovely little bow and arrows are in his hands; his breast, eyes, and arms are broad. (3) As he walks, the reflections of his feet shine in the courtyard, a mass of loveliness. Overcome by love, Earth seems to offer a lotus-seat at every step. (4) Beholding his supremely wondrous beauty, the astonished mothers gaze; overcome by joy, they cannot even say, “Child, play here in your own home.” (5) Tulsīdāsa says: seeing the Lord's beauty, everyone holds back the blinking of the eyes, as though a company of cakora birds, beholding the autumn moon, had grown still.
