The princes standing at the palace gate call out: “Generous in beauty, character, and virtue, awake, my darling! The water-lilies and cakora birds grieve, while cakravākas rejoice at dawn; roosters and other birds make a clamor, and bees hum apart.” (1) Having eaten delicious, sweet food and adorned every limb with ornaments, he takes with him his younger brothers and the other children, all arrayed in many ways. In his hand he grasps a lovely bow that breaks the pride of enemy hosts; yellow cloth is at his waist and a quiver holds sharp arrows. (2) The compassionate Lord goes to the grove to enjoy the hunt; gazing upon his face, his mother reflects upon the abundance of her merit. Tulsīdāsa says: take me with you; knowing me helpless, grant me fearlessness. Give me a stainless mind that may sing your excellent deeds. (3)
