Awake, treasury of compassion, wise lord Rāmacandra— Mother says again and again, “Dawn has come, my darling.” Your great lotus-eyes are swans upon the stepwell of love; upon your lovely lotus-face ten million Loves are offered. (1) The red sun has risen and night has passed; the moon has lost its rays, the lamp-flame is feeble, and the clustered stars' radiance is dim. It is as though dense light of knowledge had dawned and all the diversions of becoming had ended, while the sun of contentment burned the darkness of hope and fear. (2) The companies of birds call sweetly and loudly—listen with trust, my child, wealth and life of my breath. It is as though the Veda, bards, hosts of sages, heralds, and genealogists were proclaiming your praise: “Victory, victory, all victory to the foe of Kaiṭabha!” (3) Rows of lotuses open and throngs of bees depart, humming lovely, tender notes as they leave their lotuses behind. It is as though, gaining detachment and abandoning all the well-like homes of sorrow, your love-intoxicated servants wandered about meditating upon your virtues. (4) Hearing these beloved, nectar-sweet words, the supremely compassionate Lord awakes; vast entanglements flee and masses of suffering are torn apart. Tulsīdāsa, seeing his lotus-face, is filled with joy; the snares of delusion fall away and the heavy opposites grow utterly faint. (5)
