सोहत सहज सुहाये नैन। खंजन मीन कमल सकुचत तब जब उपमा चाहत कबि दैन॥ १ ॥ सुंदर सब अंगनि सिसु-भूषन राजत जनु सोभा आये लैन। बड़ो लाभ, लालची लोभबस रहि गयो लखि सुखमा बहु मैन॥ २ ॥ भोर भूप लिये गोद मोद भरे, निरखत बदन, सुनत कल बैन। बालक-रूप अनूप राम-छवि निवसति तुलसिदास-उर-ऐन॥ ३ ॥

His naturally lovely eyes shine. Wagtail, fish, and lotus shrink away whenever a poet wishes to offer them as comparisons. (1) Childhood ornaments shine upon all his beautiful limbs, as though Love had come to borrow beauty. Seeing the abundant loveliness as a great profit, greedy Love is overcome by desire and remains there. (2) At dawn the king, filled with delight, takes him in his lap, gazes at his face, and listens to his sweet speech. The incomparable beauty of Rāma in a child's form dwells in the very home of Tulsīdāsa's heart. (3)
