रघुबर बाल छबि कहाँ बरनि। सकल सुखकी सीँव, कोटि-मनोज-सोभाहरनि॥ १ ॥ बसी मानहुँ चरन-कमलनि अरुनता तजि तरनि। रुचिर नूपुर किंकिनी मन हरति रुनझुनु करनि॥ २ ॥ मंजु मेचक मृदुल तनु अनुहरति भूषन भरनि। जनु सुभग सिंगार सिसु तरु फर्यो है अदभुत फरनि॥ ३ ॥ भुजनि भुजग, सरोज नयननि, बदन बिधु जित्यो लरनि। रहे कुहरनि सलिल, नभ, उपमा अपर दुरि डरनि॥ ४ ॥ लसत कर-प्रतिबिम्ब मनि-आँगन घुटुरुवनि चरनि। जनु जलज-संपुट सुछबि भरि-भरि धरति उर धरनि॥ ५ ॥ पुन्यफल अनुभवति सुतहि बिलोकि दसरथ-घरनि। बसति तुलसी-हृदय प्रभु-किलकनि ललित लरखरनि॥ ६ ॥

(1) Redness seems to have abandoned the sun and settled in his lotus-feet. His lovely anklets and little bells steal the mind as they softly chime. (2) The profusion of ornaments accords with his lovely, tender, dark body, as though the beautiful sapling of infant love had borne astonishing fruit. (3) In beauty's contest his arms defeated serpents, his eyes the lotuses, and his face the moon. Those rivals remain in caves, water, and sky, while every other comparison flees far away in fear. (4) As he moves on his knees in the jeweled courtyard, the reflections of his hands shine— as though Earth were filling lotus-cups again and again with exquisite beauty and holding them to her heart. (5) Daśaratha's queen experiences the fruit of her merit as she gazes upon her son. In Tulsī's heart abide the Lord's lovely crowing and unsteady toddling. (6)
