आँगन फिरत घुटुरुवनि धाए। नील-जलद तनु-स्याम राम-सिसु जननि निरखि मुख निकट बोलाए॥ १ ॥ बंधूक सुमन अरुन पद-पंकज अंकुस प्रमुख चिन्ह बनि आए। नूपुर जनु मुनिबर-कलहंसनि रचे नीड़ दै बाँह बसाए॥ २ ॥ कटिमेखल, बर हार ग्रीव-दर, रुचिर बाँह भूषन पहिराए। उर श्रीवत्स मनोहर हरिनख हेम मध्य मनिगन बहु लाए॥ ३ ॥ सुभग चिबुक, द्विज, अधर, नासिका, श्रवन, कपोल मोहि अति भाए। भ्रू सुंदर करूनारस-पूरन, लोचन मनहुँ जुगल जलजाए॥ ४ ॥ भाल बिसाल ललित लटकन बर, बालदसाके चिकुर सोहाए। मनु दोउ गुर सनि कुज आगे करि ससिहि मिलन तमके गन आए॥ ५ ॥ उपमा एक अभूत भई तब जब जननी पट पीत ओढ़ाए। नील जलदपर उडुगन निरखत तजि सुभाव मनो तड़ित छपाए॥ ६ ॥ अंग-अंगपर मार-निकर मिलि छबि समूह लै-लै जनु छाए। तुलसिदास रघुनाथ रूप-गुन तौ कहां जो बिधि होहि बनाए॥ ७ ॥
He roams the courtyard, darting about on his knees. Seeing the face of child Rāma, whose dark body is a blue rain cloud, his mother calls him near. (1) His lotus-feet are red as bandhūka blossoms, marked with the goad and other chief signs. His anklets seem nests fashioned for the royal swans of sages, whom he has sheltered within his arms. (2) A girdle at his waist, a fine necklace at the hollow of his conch-like neck, lovely ornaments upon his arms; on his breast are Śrīvatsa and a charming tiger-claw charm, its gold center set with many gems. (3) His lovely chin, teeth, lips, nose, ears, and cheeks delight me greatly. His beautiful brows brim with the nectar of compassion; his eyes seem a pair of lotuses. (4) Fine pendants shine upon his broad brow, and the curls of childhood look lovely. It is as though hosts of darkness, sending the two gurus, Saturn, and Mars ahead, had come to meet the moon. (5) One unprecedented comparison arose when his mother wrapped him in yellow cloth: seeing stars upon a dark-blue cloud, lightning seems to have abandoned her nature and hidden there. (6) Upon every limb, hosts of Love seem to gather and spread out, each bearing masses of beauty. Tulsīdāsa says: Raghunātha's form and virtues could be described only if the Creator had made them. (7)
