Sleep, dear child, beloved lord of the Raghus. Holding him in her lap and immersed in joy, Sumitrā offers herself again and again. (1) When we laugh, you laugh; when we grow listless, you grow listless, like a reflection matching its form. You are the life of everyone's life, giver of every blessing. (2) The Mūla constellation is the root, the heavenly path a vine, and the mass of darkness its abundant leaves. The stars are flowers spread across the tree of sky, as though night scatters her splendor everywhere. (3) You are yawning and growing drowsy, dear one; I have come to know your way. Singing and gently rocking you, I will call lovely, peaceful Sleep. (4) “My calf, my beautiful little one, absorbed in play,” she says, fondling him again and again. The lovely childhood of the Lord with his younger brothers still makes Tulsī's heart surge. (5)
