पृथोस्तु नप्ता पृथुधर्मकर्मठः प्राचीनबर्हिर्युवतौ शतदॄतौ ।
प्रचेतसो नाम सुचेतसः सुतानजीजनत्त्वत्करुणाङ्कुरानिव

pṛthostu naptā pṛthudharmakarmaṭhaḥ prācīnabarhiryuvatau śatadṝtau pracetaso nāma sucetasaḥ sutānajījanattvatkaruṇāṅkurāniva

“Pṛthu's grandson, devoted to Pṛthu's dharma-action, Prācīnabarhi, in young womanhood-full of his hundred-aged life, fathered the well-minded sons by the powers of the Pracetas, like the sprouts of your compassion.”

पितुः सिसृक्षानिरतस्य शासनाद्भवत्तपस्याभिरता दशापि ते ।
पयोनिधिं पश्चिममेत्य तत्तटे सरोवरं सन्ददृशुर्मनोहरम्

pituḥ sisṛkṣāniratasya śāsanādbhavattapasyābhiratā daśāpi te payonidhiṁ paścimametya tattaṭe sarovaraṁ sandadṛśurmanoharam

“By the order of their father eager for creation, the ten of them, devoted to your austerity, going to the western ocean, all saw on its bank a heart-charming lake.”

तदा भवत्तीर्थमिदं समागतो भवो भवत्सेवकदर्शनादृतः ।
प्रकाशमासाद्य पुरः प्रचेतसामुपादिशद्भक्ततमस्तवस्तवम्

tadā bhavattīrthamidaṁ samāgato bhavo bhavatsevakadarśanādṛtaḥ prakāśamāsādya puraḥ pracetasāmupādiśadbhaktatamastavastavam

“Then Bhava, who came to your tīrtha, honoured by the sight of your servants, appeared before the Pracetas, the highest devotee, and taught them your praise.”

स्तवं जपन्तस्तममी जलान्तरे भवन्तमासेविषतायुतं समाः ।
भवत्सुखास्वादरसादमीष्वियान्बभूव कलो ध्रुववन्न शीघ्रता

stavaṁ japantastamamī jalāntare bhavantamāseviṣatāyutaṁ samāḥ bhavatsukhāsvādarasādamīṣviyānbabhūva kalo dhruvavanna śīghratā

“Reciting that praise within the water, they served you for ten thousand years. So great was the joy of tasting your bliss to them; their long time was, like Dhruva's, not slow.”

तपोभिरेषामतिमात्रवर्धिभिः स यज्ञहिंसानिरतोऽपि पावितः ।
पिताऽपि तेषां गृहयातनारदप्रदर्शितात्मा भवदात्मतां ययौ

tapobhireṣāmatimātravardhibhiḥ sa yajñahiṁsānirato'pi pāvitaḥ pitā'pi teṣāṁ gṛhayātanāradapradarśitātmā bhavadātmatāṁ yayau

“By their austerities, growing beyond measure, their father, even though attached to violence in sacrifice, was purified. He too, his nature shown by Nārada within the home, attained your nature.”

कृपाबलेनैव पुरः प्रचेतसां प्रकाशमागाः पतगेन्द्रवाहनः ।
विराजि चक्रादिवरायुधांशुभिः भुजाभिरष्टाभिरुदञ्चितद्युतिः

kṛpābalenaiva puraḥ pracetasāṁ prakāśamāgāḥ patagendravāhanaḥ virāji cakrādivarāyudhāṁśubhiḥ bhujābhiraṣṭābhirudañcitadyutiḥ

“By the very strength of your grace, you appeared before the Pracetas, riding on the king of birds, brilliant with the rays of the discus and the rest of your weapons, with your eight arms shining splendour.”

प्रचेतसां तावदयाचतामपिः त्वमेव कारुण्यभराद्वारानदाः ।
भवद्विचिन्ताऽपि शिवायदेहिनां भवत्वसौ रुद्रनुतिश्च कामदा

pracetasāṁ tāvadayācatāmapiḥ tvameva kāruṇyabharādvārānadāḥ bhavadvicintā'pi śivāyadehināṁ bhavatvasau rudranutiśca kāmadā

“Of the Pracetas, who did not even ask, you yourself, out of compassion, granted boons. 'Your remembrance also is auspicious for embodied beings; let this praise of Rudra also be desire-bringing.'”

अवाप्य कान्तां तनयां महीरुहां तया रमध्वं दशलक्षवत्सरीम् ।
सुतोऽस्तु दक्षो ननु तत्क्षणाच्च मां प्रयास्यथेति न्यगदो मुदैव तान्

avāpya kāntāṁ tanayāṁ mahīruhāṁ tayā ramadhvaṁ daśalakṣavatsarīm suto'stu dakṣo nanu tatkṣaṇācca māṁ prayāsyatheti nyagado mudaiva tān

“'Receive the daughter of the trees as wife; with her play for ten lakh years; let your son be Dakṣa, who at that very moment will reach me,' you spoke joyfully to them.”

ततश्च ते भूतलरोधिनस्तरून्कृधा दहन्तो द्रुहिणेन वारिताः ।
द्रुमैश्च दत्तां तनयामवाप्य तां त्वदुक्तकालं सुखिनोऽभिरेमिरे

tataśca te bhūtalarodhinastarūnkṛdhā dahanto druhiṇena vāritāḥ drumaiśca dattāṁ tanayāmavāpya tāṁ tvaduktakālaṁ sukhino'bhiremire

“Then, when they were burning in anger the trees obstructing the surface of the earth, stopped by the lotus-born, receiving the daughter given by the trees, they sported happily for the time you had said.”

अवाप्य दक्षं च सुतं कृताध्वराः प्रचेतसो नारदलब्धयाधिया ।
अवापुरानन्दपदं तथाविधस्त्वमीश वातालयनाथ पाहिमाम्

avāpya dakṣaṁ ca sutaṁ kṛtādhvarāḥ pracetaso nāradalabdhayādhiyā avāpurānandapadaṁ tathāvidhastvamīśa vātālayanātha pāhimām

“Having gained Dakṣa as son, having performed sacrifices, the Pracetas, by the wisdom obtained from Nārada, attained the place of bliss. Such are you, lord, lord of the Wind-house, save me.”
