The beloved youth dines within Siddhi Sadan while all his sisters-in-law sing. Your sister Shanta is an exceedingly tender princess. She ought to have been given to a royal prince, yet a matted-haired ascetic carried her away! If this is the custom of your royal household, how can such conduct be accepted outside it? Not one maiden of Ayodhya will be safe from being carried away. The darling youth eats and smiles softly; Sita's companions offer themselves to him.
Pada 124
What wondrous delight there is, darling, in the gari of one's in-laws! Through immense fortune you have come to Janakpur and found all your sisters-in-law. Listen to one matter of ours: your sister is dearer to me than life itself. Your royal beauty is a treasury of splendor, O dark and handsome bridegroom. How will any woman of Ayodhya remain safe from you? Yet one thing is certain: your sister is the radiance of your lineage. Great and generous sages seek her—such is your sister! When the whole world desires her, what guardian could possibly restrain her? Let Princess Shanta wander through every lane of Mithila. Behold and ponder the virtues of your own sister.
Pada 125
Honored guest, what can I say? Hearing it, my heart grows shy again and again. Anyone who loves your sister would naturally suit you well. Whoever catches her eye, she throws her arms around his neck. She devours worldly shame and all concern for family honor, little by little.
