Shanta was born in Ayodhya and raised in Romapada's house. She reached full age without being married; then rain ceased and the people cried out. Now tell me—why should I call this false? Do not scowl upon hearing the tale; look upon me with a gracious gaze. I have told only this much. Mod's eyes overflow with affection and remain fixed upon your moonlike face.
Pada 121
Do not feel shy within your heart—please eat a little more. Whatever has been made, whether plain or savory, accept it knowingly and forgive us. The hearts of loving people thirst for your glance; look toward them and smile. Whatever dowry gifts you receive, do not let them bring sadness to your mind. You have obtained Sita, who delivers both families; receive her with honor in your heart. You are famed as an excellent guest—remain seated, smile, and give Mod your blessing.
Pada 122
You blush at the very sound of playful abuse, dear bridegroom Rama! Eat our lovely dishes, and listen to my teasing words. You are dark, with beauty that shames Kama—then how are your mother and father both so fair? Hearing the gari in your father-in-law's city, Raghunandan smiles; O abode of grace, rejoice, friend, and turn your gaze toward Sita.
Pada 123
Let us choose the choicest abuses and bestow them upon this darling groom! Thirty-six kinds of food and countless dishes fill the jeweled platters.
