In that lineage appeared the supreme Power, Siya—beloved daughter of Mithila’s lord, abode of compassion, wish-fulfilling lotus for the sake of devotees. Nimi’s son was Sri Mithi Raja, and his son the first Janak; then came King Udavasu, Nandivardhana, and Suketu.

Devarata’s son was Brihadratha, and after him came Mahavira; Sudhriti’s son was Dhrishtaketu, and from him came Haryashva. Haryashva’s son was Maru, and Maru’s son Pratindhaka; his son was Kirtiratha.

His daughter is the gentle Sri Sita— lovely as a tender shoot, victorious through the merit of sacred sacrifice; her zodiacal name is Hemalatika. She is the crest-jewel of Nimi’s line and the beloved of Sunayana, adorned with majesty blended with sweetness and with every ornament, devoted to loving service and play with her own husband—
