From Sri Vikukshi came Bana, and from him mighty Anaranya; from Sri Prithu came Trishanku, and from him the powerful Dhundhumara. Yuvanashva’s son was Mandhata; his son Susandhi preserved the stainless line. From Dhruvasandhi came Bharata; from Bharata, Asita; then Sagara and Asamanja.

Amshuman’s son was Sri Dilipa, and Dilipa’s was Bhagiratha; Bhagiratha’s son was Kakutstha, and Sri Raghu’s son was mighty Pravriddha. From Kalmashapada came Sudarshana; then Agnivarna; from Shighraga came Maru, then Prashushruka and Ambarisha.

The illustrious Nahusha came next, then Yayati and glorious Nabhaga; from Nabhaga was born the greatly fortunate Dasharatha, jewel of the line. His sons are abodes of happiness, delightful to the eyes of the world, royal swans upon the lake of Shambhu’s mind and mines of every virtue.

Embodiments of Sat-Chit-Ananda, treasures of noble conduct, tenderhearted, obedient to those who love them, generous and peerless— they sit adorned for marriage in the center of the pavilion; beholding them, even the god of Love sets the bow of his eyebrows.

Rama, Bharata, Lakshmana, and beloved Shatrughna— the four appear ever new, givers of happiness and radiant as the sun.

His son is Sri Ramachandra, second to none in exquisite sweetness; his zodiacal name is Hiranyanama. May there be well-being through that compact mass of Sat-Chit-Ananda, the transcendent and complete Brahman, supreme Lord, delight of the eyes of every world, abode of happiness, supremely generous, the highest Brahman and supreme Self.
