Recitation of Lineage in Hindi
I place the dust of the guru’s feet upon my head and contemplate Ganapati; I bow to Shesha and Sarada and lower my head at Shambhu’s feet. Today I shall relate to the wise the lineage in which the divine Sat-Chit-Ananda Rama appeared.
Newly arrayed as a bridegroom, he delights in this pavilion. May I gain a stainless understanding beneath the gracious glance of Sita’s bridegroom, so that I may recount his lineage before this gathering.
First, from the lotus-navel of Vishnu appeared four-faced Brahma. From him came Marichi, and from Marichi, Kashyapa, rich in austerity. His son was King Vivasvan, and Vivasvan’s was the handsome Manu; Manu’s son was Ikshvaku, and then came Kukshi.
