The beauty of dear Sita cannot be described; a small mind confronts immeasurable loveliness.

Thus Sita arrived within the pavilion, while the joyful sages recited benedictions of peace.

Pada 57

The radiance of the beloved moon of bliss spreads on every side; waves rise in the ocean of love within the courtyard.

Gods and celestial women behold it and become utterly bewildered; all the people of Mithila are submerged in joy.

Though the prince of Awadh is himself as lovely as the god of love, he gazes upon the young maiden’s beauty like a chakora upon the moon.

Snehalata joins both hands and pleads: “O eager Beloved, keep my petition within your heart.”

At that moment the two family gurus set forth all the prescribed rites.

Then, after grain had been placed, eight Brahmins were to pronounce blessings of well-being. Having recited the prescribed formulas beginning with Sadasaspati three times, and having taken the ritual grass, sacred rice, and other materials, they were to tie a protective bracelet at the base of the bridegroom’s right hand and at the middle of the bride’s left hand.

Purusha Sukta

The Cosmic Person has a thousand heads, a thousand eyes, and a thousand feet. Enveloping the earth on every side, he extends beyond it by ten fingers’ breadth. ॥1॥

The Cosmic Person alone is all this—whatever has been and whatever is yet to be. He is the Lord of immortality, and also of that which grows through food. ॥2॥
