Translation of page 221

For the moon's sake, the chakori bird became a thief; for the discus, she became the bird caught at its center. Coming and going, Bihari never tires of her—yet before such beauty, he himself stands exhausted and still.

Pada 312

A sweet parrot has come to my rooftop, dear friend, speaking sweet words: “My precious guest has arrived!” (1)

In the chamber of my eyes I shall spread a delicate bed; closing the shutters of my eyelids, I shall delight my beloved. (2)

Ever since I beheld that dark and lovely face, dear friend, I have never recovered my senses. My heart has bathed in the river of love. (3)

I burned every concern for worldly shame in love's fire. I forgot every entanglement of the world. (4)

All desires were erased; choosing the bridegroom alone, I ran and installed him within my heart. In love's river, I let the vine of attachment drift away. (5)
