Our sister is Bhagavati herself, the one through whom the whole world finds relief. He in whose palm the universe lies captive has himself been bound in Mithila. Snehalata, remain fearless always, clinging to the bridegroom's feet.
Pada 299
How singularly enchanting is today's adornment, dear friend! It is as though bees encircle the full moon, gathered together in perfect beauty. Scattered diamond particles sparkle like radiant stars within a cloud. It is as though millions of Kamas and a fierce rainbow have appeared together. Deer, fish, and khanjana birds lower their eyes in shame; even the moist lotus is abashed. Two infant serpents—his curls—dangle upon his cheeks and play in delight. The jewel at his nose and the bee-like brows move and hover between them. Amid such sweetness, radiance, and splendor, every comparison itself begins to play.
Pada 300
Wherever your magic-filled eyes turned, enchantment followed. Beholding that massed beauty like a dark storm cloud, a flood of feeling surged within me. The tender bud of the heart trembled; the pollen of love filled it with sweet rasa. The daggers of your eyes struck again and again with their lashes, as though overturning a casket of magic. The wand of love rose; both eyes poured down, scattering pearls like rain. Now my eyelids cannot turn away even for an instant—if they leave you for a moment, it seems my life will depart.
Pada 301
O heart-stealing beloved, Prince of Avadh, how intoxicated your eyes are! Your brows are two bows, your eyes their arrows, and upon them lies collyrium dark as poison.
