neither house nor courtyard gives delight. Through Sita I gained the sight of him; destiny has shown me great favor. Latika sings, yet nothing pleases her—do not let him depart from Mithila.
Pada 296
I shall pass my days with Sita's beloved, O enchanter who has stolen my heart; without him, nothing pleases me. His cruel eyes have pierced my heart with arrows, O enchanter; he has cast a spell that leaves me sobbing. His lovely lotus hands are crimson, O enchanter, and every finger blossoms beautifully. Once such love has arisen, even he cannot escape it, O enchanter—he himself has been sold in Mithila.
Pada 297
Dwell within my heart, dark honored guest Rama—you have settled there with your gentle smile. Your black curling hair and wedding crown are lovely, Rama; the sandal mark upon your brow dwells within my heart. Your eyes are darkened with collyrium and reddened with love, Rama; your sidelong glance dwells within my heart. You wear a yellow wedding dhoti and yellow coat, Rama, with auspicious bracelets upon your wrists. Beside lovely Sita you are a blue lotus, Rama, the very life of your companion Sneha.
Pada 298
When Sri Raghava himself stands ready to help, what fear can remain? We are all tigresses of Mithila, and he has become Mithila's son-in-law.
