Translation of page 159

The eyes grow red and dark as they struggle; fighting on and on, evening falls. In the courtyard of rasa and the battlefield of love, the two take no rest.

Pada 284

The moon has risen in our courtyard—what care have we for anything now? We are all Sri Sita's sisters, and Raghava has become our guest. O blessed fortune of Mithila's courtyard: our honored guest has pounded the ceremonial rice! By his grace, dear friends, affection and favor rain upon us. The one upon whom Brahma and the other gods meditate is now bound within the knot of her garment. May this sweet pair live age after age, their gentle smiles forever shining.

Pada 285

Where has such a matchless form ever appeared—this charming Prince of Avadh? Gazing and gazing, my very life slips away. Collyrium adorns both his eyes; before him, even Kama's proud heart has died. All the townspeople are caught in the snares of his curls, while his gentle smile thrusts its spear. Dark One, dwell in Mithila with Sita; this is the longing within Mod's heart.

Pada 286

He is Mother Sunaina's honored guest—may no evil eye fall upon the treasure of our lives! He is Kaushika's lovely plaything, the beautiful darling of great good fortune. This dark, graceful boy seems to be the very child of Love. O lovely one, keep roaming always through our courtyard. Your eyes cast a snare; your gaze is filled with magical spells. Mod cannot forget the meeting of those eyes—the sorcery within that glance.
