Pada 274

How devastating is the intoxicated groom's gaze! Ever since you entered Mithila, such havoc has swept through the city. Your sharp, venomous eyes strike the young women with grievous wounds. So many are wounded silently within; so many stand frozen where they are. Sia-ali yearns to merge into you as a river enters the ocean.

Pada 275

My heart has been sold to Sita's bridegroom. The saffron mark upon his fair brow has disappeared amid his curling locks. His gentle, gentle smile has made me lose myself in the sweetness of his gaze. The lovely radiance of every limb flutters through his yellow garments. For this wondrous image, Sia-ali has surrendered every concern for family honor.

Pada 276

My beloved's bridegroom has enchanted my heart. A crown rests upon his head; his curls are ringlets, and his great eyes are adorned with collyrium. Lovely are his lips, nose-ring, and earrings; a garland of flowers shines upon his breast. Sweetness covers every limb, beloved, while your yellow garments flutter. Sia-ali offers body, mind, and wealth—do not go away; remain close to your own people.

Pada 277

My heart refuses to find peace. Ever since the beauty and radiance of Avadh's Prince shone before me, I have known no peace. Show me your lovely face, beloved, and grant me the gift of your gentle smile.
