Keep body and mind forever dyed by that smiling, sidelong glance. Sia-ali, make this divine pair—the treasure of your life—entirely your own in every way.

Pada 271

The Dark One's eyes brim and overflow with rasa. They are packets of magic, spell upon spell; my heart can find no peace. There is no rest by day and no sleep by night—to whom can I speak these words? Waking and sleeping, even in dreams, they pierce me day and night. Those dark, collyrium-lined, radiant, beloved eyes! The divine pair's eyes wreak such havoc, yet still bestow the sweetest joy.

Pada 272

Remain well, remain happy, my beloved. Rejoice always with your darling—you are our very life and breath. Whether you meet me or do not is yours to choose; only remain wholly happy. From afar I find comfort merely in hearing news of you; that alone sustains me. Sia-ali says: wherever you dwell, remain mine alone—whether near or far apart.

Pada 273

How wonderfully he has become a groom! What a saffron robe, what a wedding veil—what splendor surrounds him! What ruby-red eyes, what collyrium—my heart is bewitched! What bowlike brows, what eyes—Kama's bow itself has appeared! The clever women of Mithilapura ask, “What queen bore such a son?” What crimson his henna-dyed hands reveal, glowing like the lamps of Diwali!
