bracelets upon his hands, a pure silken thread at his wrist, and a garland of pearls.

Seeing the sweetness in every limb, fresh waves of love rise within my heart. Says Mauna Mudita: for bridegroom Raghulal I cast away shame and public censure like straw and leave the world’s clamor behind.

Pada 225

Friend, Sita’s Lord is wonderfully colorful!

Upon every limb one could sacrifice all the charm and pride of Love; he is lovely, artful, and radiant. His moon-face steals the heart, and his tender dark body is utterly enchanting.

His lotus-eyes steal the soul; his gentle smile has plundered the mind as well. His softly rounded cheeks and elegant curls are steeped in the art of Love.

His cloud-dark body is supremely beautiful, a treasury of form that shatters pride. His varied ornaments and garments are enchanting, and a lovely necklace lies upon his chest.

Men and women behold him with delight; their minds grow absorbed as waves of nectarean love arise. Says Mauna Mudita: the bee of my mind remains forever absorbed at his lotus-feet.

Pada 226

My beloved’s eyes are very powerful.

One glance wounds me, and no salve can heal the wound; my eyelids no longer close.

In an instant they steal shame and social restraint; with the arrows of Love they take everything away.

Intoxicated and steeped in rasa, drunk upon his beauty beyond all comparison, they captivate the mind.

Those untouched by love call this a lie; when his gentle smile flashes, to whom could I tell the wonder in words?
