Saar (Essence)

Ananta guides the seeker to recognize that the entire phenomenal realm exists only within the light and on the screen of one's own consciousness, ultimately pointing toward the absolute awareness that transcends even the sense of being.

Everything appearing is experienced within the light of consciousness on the screen of consciousness.
The person I am not; the snake is not there in the rope.
Ultimately, I am the witness of even this 'I Am', where nothing has ever really happened.

This being or 'I am' the creator of this phenomenal level—what could this really mean in my real experience without any concept? You see, what do I see? Is it not the case that when 'I am' is, then this realm is? When 'I am' is not, then this realm is not? Can you validate this with your direct experience?

Seeker

Yeah, it is.

Ananta

Very good. So this 'I am' itself is the light of this consciousness in which this realm is created on its own screen. Is there anything outside of your presence? If we were checking with this Vijay yesterday, we saw that everything that is appearing is also experienced within me. What 'me' are we talking about now? Not the ego me; we're talking about this sense of being me, isn't it? Is there anything which is outside your sense of being?

Seeker

No.

Ananta

You see? So that is what Bhagwan means when he says it is in the light of itself and on the screen also of itself. When this light comes on, this realm comes on. Where is it seen? On itself, itself. Nothing outside of presence is our experience. That is why it is the light of consciousness on the screen of consciousness. Now, this is your direct experience, isn't it? So then, if it is the light and the screen, then it must be the creator of this movie, no?

This is clear. Only it comes very strongly like... it's good to know what I am not, but it's... let it experience what I am. Yes, it does come because it's... mind just picks up that and starts visualizing.

Ananta

So, what I am not is this idea I've had about myself for so long. This person I am not. You see, the snake is not there in the rope; that I am not. And then we are talking about what you are, you see? Then you find that in your phenomenal aspect, in your dynamic aspect, as Guruji says, you have this consciousness which is the light and the screen of all this worldly appearance. Ultimately, even this 'I am' not. I am that which is witness even of this. And then from this perspective, we can say nothing has ever really happened. This is what she was trying to imply earlier, you see? Even the birth of consciousness and the dissolution, from the perspective of awareness, has never really happened. So ultimately, I am not any of this, including consciousness. But what is there to say then after that? Nothing. So it starts... we start with the 'notting' from the outside: I am not this, not this, not this, not this. And then we come to a point where somebody like a sage like Nisargadatta Maharaj can say even 'I am-ness' is an infection. I am not that. You see, even 'I am-ness' itself I am not. Something from someone like that who is so established in his truest Self, in his awareness, not distracted by this worldly phenomena at all—they can come to a point where they say even this 'I am' is an infection for me, you see.
