Attention Exists in the Light of Your Seeing - 24th January 2018

Saar (Essence)

Ananta guides the seeker to recognize the unchanging 'seeing' that remains unaffected by the movement of attention or objects, pointing out that even the Master's presence is a reflection of one's own fundamental existence.

That which is aware of the eyes closing and opening is not an object.
Does attention exist because you exist, or do you exist because attention exists?
The physical form of the Master is only arising because of your own presence.

Who is aware of that which is changing? That you are. Now, what can we say about this one? This is ever-changing. Not much to say about it. If you see the pure seeing, there is no object. And closing eyes... okay, when you open your eyelids, but that problem is resolved now. That which is aware of the eyes closing and opening, is that an object? In the midst of seeing objects, you see, they... no, your seeing itself is not objective in quality, and yet there is nothing really outside of it. So even the appearance of objects, which is appearance within itself, is it really?

Seeker

If I close my eyes, it's dark. It is, yes.

Ananta

So now, how will the pure seeing be touched by any object or affected by them? Did it go away? The seeing didn't go. Who saw it? It will... they'll get attracted to certain things, okay. So if there is attraction in attention, attention wants to go to a specific object, what happened to the seeing?

Ananta

Attention exists in the light of your seeing. Does attention exist because you exist, or do you exist because attention exists? Yes, but witness is dependent also on attention. Dependent... but can there be attention without this? Can you testify to anything unless there is a knowingness of it? Therefore, it is just subsidiary, just an aspect of you. But it's not getting in the way if you do not have an idea that this is how it should be. The Self or the seeing... if you do not... you can have the notion 'pure' and you just let everything be as it is. Now, trying to get to any state, nothing wrong with them all. Suppose very many times Ram is saying, does that change anything for you in reality? Except the taste of the experience changes.

Ananta

See, it's like saying that when you eat a grape, you know, all your attention on the grape, it seems much more alive and vibrant because your attention is focused on that. Is the very reality different? It will be so. We are just talking about the quality of phenomenal experience and the byproducts of it, which could be joy or bliss. Are we talking about something fundamental being different depending on whether eyes are closed? But the fact is, too much consumption. So what stops you closing your eyes? What excuse you want? As long as you want the taste of that, consciousness will play with that. Beautiful for you.

So what might seem like a burden, something is not a burden at all. It's included. Exit from exercise... you can seem like that, which is fine. Then actually what I'm showing you is your own presence. There is no other priority. Even it is that you might be experiencing in the physical form of the Master is only arising because of your own presence, the existence of your own Atma, which it is pointing to. But thankfully the design of this is clearly designed like this, so that till you find this for yourself within yourself, you don't get super distracted with too much else. For some, it plays like that.
