Remonstrances with God
॥
English Translation · I.P. 386
WHY has some adverse season stepped in to destroy me with thee ? Why have such perplexities arisen ? Why will you not visit me and prevent them ? Why, O God, have I clung inwardly to this idea of separation? Either I am very sinful, or you have grown weak; you have not your old strength now. Are you indebted or bankrupt ? Are you forcibly bound by reason of a debt? Tuka says, Why are you so entangled that you have separated your treasure from mine?
Tr. J. Nelson Fraser & K.B. Marathe (1909)
