Abhanga 374Confession and Sin

The Sense of Sin

English Translation · I.P. 374

TO no purpose have I indulged the world; I have nothing of it and nothing of God. I have imagined that God does not exist; a man who has food to eat knows not what hunger is. My speech is graced by command of words, but the truth does not penetrate within me. I have become a wanderer; I have lost both the world and thy feet, O God I Tuka says, If 1 had known this long ago, I should not have allowed this frenzy to touch me.

Tr. J. Nelson Fraser & K.B. Marathe (1909)
