HE Puranas tell his story in song; where his I praises are sung he stands waiting himself. In the throat of Dattatreya the spell of his name prevailed; he repeated only the praise that delighted him. This name is an essence of supreme power; amid the ritual acts of the Brahmans this name stands first. Narada wandered amid the three worlds with a vina in his hand and this name on his lips. Parikshita was condemned to die within three clays, but he escaped by uttering this name. The fame of the fisherman spread far and wide; he composed the life of Hama ere Hama was born. The Vedas call you embodied and unembodied. Tuka says, Your name is the same in both aspects.
