Abhanga 273The Power of the Name

The Power of God's Name

English Translation · I.P. 273

THOSE who live in the world cannot be servants of a teacher, they cannot renounce passion, for they tremble through fear of lust. Such is not thy name, O Lord of Pandhari, that requires no toil from anyone; it is perfect sweetness and we need not wash our faoe before we taste it. We shall not hanker after wealth, we need not fear the world. A single life is not enough to fulfil our destiny, and good deeds multiply their consequences; the name of Vitthoba alone destroys the sorrow of the world. You may give up doing and undoing, or looking into sacred texts. Tuka says, All is concluded by the name of Vitthala.
