At door after door I told my lowliness, baring my teeth and falling at people's feet. The world has compassionate ones in all ten directions, capable of destroying sorrow and fault, yet not one spoke to me. (1) My mother and father abandoned the body they had begotten as a crooked creature abandons its own offspring. Why should I be angry, and whom should I blame? It is solely my misfortune that everyone hesitates even to touch my shadow. (2) Seeing me afflicted, the saints said, ‘Do not worry within your mind. Raghubara did not reject even beasts, the lowly, and sinners like you when they sought refuge, but cared for them to the end.’ (3) From the moment Tulsi became yours, he became happy even without love or trust. Seeing that the glory of the Name and the Lord's gracious nature have done me good, I now feel ashamed and marvel in admiration. (4)
