I cannot manage to speak, yet I cannot remain without speaking. Blessed Lord, there is great joy in confessing one's lowliness before the Great One: the Lord's greatness is truly great, one's own smallness truly small; the Lord's purity is perfect, while one's own sin is abundant. (1) Considering both sides, the mind shrinks back in shame and fear; yet it turns toward you when it hears of the Master's gracious fitness. It sings the Lord's virtues, joins its hands, and bows its head, for the consummate art of love is to honor even the lowly. (2) At this court pride brings total loss, while poverty and meekness secure gain, preservation, and well-being. Ten-headed Rāvaṇa was no weightier, nor Vibhīṣaṇa any frailer; from this I have understood how dependent you are upon love. (3) Cleverness here is equal to a thousand follies; speaking simply and with true feeling removes impurity. If you remember the vulture, the stone-woman, and Śabarī every day, how could your loving care for your servant ever fail? (4) Your Name is a wish-fulfilling tree that grants every desire; merely remembering it strips away the Kali age's filth and deceit. Treasury of Compassion, Tulsi asks this boon: let me be a fish in the Ganges-water of devotion to Sītā's Lord. (5)
