जानि पहिचानि मैं बिसारे हौं कृपानिधान! एतो मान ढीठ हौं उलटि देत खोरि हौं। करत जतन जासों जोरिबे को जोगीजन, तासों क्योंहूँ जुरी, सो अभागो बैठो तोरि हौं॥ १॥ मोसो दोस-कोसको भुवन-कोस दूसरो न, आपनी समुझि सूझि आयो टकटोरि हौं। गाड़ीके स्वानकी नाईं, माया मोहकी बड़ाई छिनहिं तजत, छिन भजत बहोरि हौं॥ २॥ बड़ो साई-द्रोही न बराबरी मेरीको कोऊ, नाथको सपथ किये कहत करोरि हौं। दूरि कीजै द्वारतें लबार लालची प्रपंची, सुधा-सो सलिल सूकरी ज्यों गहडोरिहौं॥ ३॥ राखिये नीके सुधारि, नीचको डारिये मारि, दुहूँ ओरकी बिचारि, अब न निहोरिहौं। तुलसी कही है साँची रेख बार बार खाँची, ढील किये नाम-महिमाकी नाव बोरिहौं॥ ४॥
Though I knew and recognized you, I forgot you, Treasury of Compassion. I have grown so proud and shameless that I turn around and blame you. Yogis strive to unite with you; somehow a little bond formed between you and me, yet this unfortunate one sat down and broke it. (1) In all the worlds there is no other treasury of faults like me; to the limit of my understanding I have searched and found this true. Like a dog behind a cart, I abandon the greatness of Māyā and delusion one moment and return to worship it the next. (2) I swear by the Lord millions of times that no great traitor to his master equals me. Drive this liar, greedy man, and deceiver away from your door, or like a sow I will muddy water as pure as nectar. (3) Either reform me well and keep me, or cast this lowly one down and kill me. Consider both alternatives; I will plead no more. Tulsi has spoken the truth and drawn the line again and again: if you delay, I shall sink the boat of the Name’s glory. (4)
