Rāma, keep me in refuge, for you have always kept such people. It is known throughout the three worlds and the three times that there is no other so compassionate; who but the Lord protects the afflicted who bow for refuge? (1) You cherished, protected, nourished, and contented the lazy, unfortunate, and sinful, yet, Lord, you were never free of your debt to the orphaned. Such is the capable Master, and I am yours however I may be; seeing the ways of the Kali age, deep revulsion rises in my heart. (2) Whether in anger or delight, smiling or vexed, why not somehow say once, “Tulsi, you are mine”? Blessed Lord, that very instant pain will be uprooted and happiness turn favorable—Great King Rāma, I swear by you. (3)
