Who Else Helps Without Cause?

अकारन को हितू और को है। बिरद ‘गरीब-निवाज’ कौनको, भौंह जासु जन जोहै॥ १॥ छोटो-बड़ो चहत सब स्वारथ, जो बिरंचि बिरचो है। कोल कुटिल, कपि-भालु पालिबो कौन कृपालुहि सोहै॥ २॥ काको नाम अनख आलस कहें अघ अवगुननि बिछोहै। को तुलसीसे कुसेवक संग्रह्यो, सठ सब दिन साईं द्रोहै॥ ३॥

Who else is a benefactor without cause? Whose renowned title is ‘Benefactor of the Poor,’ whose brow his servants watch? (1) All, small and great, whom Brahmā has created seek their own interest. What other compassionate one would find it fitting to nurture crooked Kolas, monkeys, and bears? (2) Whose Name, uttered in anger or indolence, separates one from sins and faults? Who else gathered in a bad servant like Tulsi, a fool who opposes his master every day? (3)
