भरोसो और आइहै उर ताके। कै कहुँ लहै जो रामहि-सो साहिब, कै अपनो बल जाके॥ १॥ कै कलिकाल कराल न सूझत, मोह-मार-मद छाके। कै सुनि स्वामि-सुभाउ न रह्यो चित, जो हित सब अँग थाके॥ २॥ हौं जानत भलिभाँति अपनपौ, प्रभु-सो सुन्यो न साके। उपल, भील, खग, मृग, रजनीचर, भले भये करतब काके॥ ३॥ मोको भलो राम-नाम सुरतरु-सो, रामप्रसाद कृपालु कृपाके। तुलसी सुखी निसोच राज ज्यों बालक माय-बबाके॥ ४॥

Trust in another will enter the heart only of one who either finds somewhere a master like Rama or possesses strength of his own. (1) Or of one who, intoxicated by delusion, lust, and pride, fails to see terrible Kali; or whose heart no longer remembers, though he has heard, the Master’s nature—the benefactor of all who are exhausted in every limb. (2) I know my own measure very well, and I have heard of none who can equal the Lord. The stone, the Bhil, the bird, the deer, and the night-roamer—through whose deeds did they become good? (3) For me, Rama’s Name has become a beneficent wish-tree through gracious Rama’s grace. Tulsi is happy and carefree, like a child in the kingdom of his mother and father. (4)
