What gain came from receiving a human body, when in body, speech, and mind it never, even in a dream, served another’s need? (1) The pleasure that comes uninvited in heaven or hell, home or forest—for that pleasure, mind, you make great effort and understand not though instructed. (2) Deluded, foolish mind, you acted as you pleased toward another’s wife and in hostility to others, forgetting the mass of pain, fierce torment, and calamity of the womb. (3) Fear, sleep, intercourse, and food are alike for all born in the world. Gaining a body rare even to gods, you did not worship Hari but squandered it in pride. (4) For those whose division into self and other has not gone, who do not dissolve duality and merge in Rama with purity—Tulsi, what use will regret be after this opportunity passes? (5)
