मैं तोहिं अब जान्यो संसार। बाँधि न सकहि मोहि हरिके बल, प्रगट कपट-आगार॥ १॥ देखत ही कमनीय, कछू नाहिंन पुनि किये बिचार। ज्यों कदलीतरु-मध्य निहारत, कबहुँ न निकसत सार॥ २॥ तेरे लिये जनम अनेक मैं फिरत न पायों पार। महामोह-मृगजल-सरिता महँ बोर्यो हौं बारहिं बार॥ ३॥ सुनु खल! छल-बल कोटि किये बस होहि न भगत उदार। सहित सहाय तहाँ बसि अब, जेहि हृदय न नंदकुमार॥ ४॥ तासों करहु चातुरी जो नहिं जानै मरम तुम्हार। सो परि डरै मरै रजु-अहि तें, बूझै नहिं ब्यवहार॥ ५॥ निज हित सुनु सठ! हठ न करहि, जो चहहि कुसल परिवार। तुलसिदास प्रभुके दासनि तजि भजहि जहाँ मद मार॥ ६॥
World, now I have recognized you: manifest abode of deceit, you cannot bind me, through Hari’s strength. (1) You are attractive only at sight; upon reflection, there is nothing at all. Looking within a plantain tree, one never finds solid heartwood. (2) For your sake I wandered through many births and never found your limit; again and again you drowned me in the mirage-river of great delusion. (3) Listen, wretch: though you employ ten million deceits and powers, a noble devotee will not come under your control. Go now with all your helpers and dwell where Nandakumara is not in the heart. (4) Practice your cunning upon one who does not know your secret. Only one who does not understand the matter falls frightened and dies from the rope imagined as a snake. (5) Listen to what is good for you, fool: do not be obstinate if you desire your household’s welfare. Leave the servants of Tulsidas’s Lord and flee to where pride and Mara dwell. (6)
